Taco John’s did not invent Taco Tuesday

Taking a stand in support of Taco Bell to liberate the phrase “Taco Tuesday,”TacoTuesday.com agrees that tacos have the unique ability to bring people together and bring joy to their lives on an otherwise mediocre day of the week.

At TacoTuesday.com we want to share a small collection of advertisements throughout the decades of people and restaurants celebrating Taco Tuesday. These ads are long before the Taco John’s trademark.

Keep in mind that currently there are nearly 100,000 restaurants in the United States that celebrate Taco Tuesday and 13% of Americans celebrate it every week in all states, which equates to well over 30 million people who enjoy Taco Tuesday weekly.

TacoTuesday.com stands with Taco Bell to Free Taco Tuesday

Taking a stand in support of Taco Bell to liberate the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” TacoTuesday.com agrees that tacos have the unique ability to bring people together and bring joy to their lives on an otherwise mediocre day of the week. The show of support comes in light of Taco Bell having filed legal petitions to cancel the federal trademark registrations for “Taco Tuesday.”

“This is not about asking the trademark holder to stop celebrating Taco Tuesday, we’re asking them to recognize that since their trademark was granted, the term has grown well beyond them. Millions of people celebrate Taco Tuesday across the country, in restaurants and at home, and have the right to do so,” explains Pamela Waitt, Founder of TacoTuesday.com. “Having ‘Taco Tuesday’ trademarked today can be likened to someone owning ‘Happy Hour’ or ‘Sunday Brunch.’ We are here to amplify the voices of our restaurant industry friends across the country who celebrate Taco Tuesday, and all the taco loving fans who visit them on Tuesday, or any day of the week – we are in this together.”

THE IMPACT OF TACO TUESDAY
TacoTuesday.com reveals the significant impact that Taco Tuesday has on the restaurant industry, which relies on the day as a beloved tradition across the nation with the power to increase business significantly. Beyond being a catchy phrase, “Taco Tuesday” has evolved into a cultural phenomenon, as can be seen by the following statistics:

—Taco Tuesday increases restaurant revenue by an average of 22% – 36%, which helps to keep the local economy and payroll thriving

—The earliest documented advertisement for a Taco Tuesday special was in the classified section of the October 16, 1933 edition of the El Paso Herald-Post, decades before a trademark was filed [Source: Gustavo Arellano, Thrillist]

—58% of Americans are aware of Taco Tuesday, 42% have celebrated it, and 13% of Americans celebrate it every week, which equates well over 30 million people who enjoy Taco Tuesday weekly

—There are nearly 100,000 restaurants in the United States that celebrate Taco Tuesday

“The love for tacos is strong – support for the cause continues to grow with NBA star LeBron James joining Taco Bell in support of restaurants and taco lovers across the nation in an effort to #FreeTacoTuesday,” continues Waitt, who supports Taco Bell’s filing of legal petitions to cancel the federal trademark registrations for “Taco Tuesday” and advocating for the opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate Taco Tuesday. “Our hope is that the nation’s collective love for tacos will bring us together, not limit or divide us.”

TACOTUESDAY.COM BREAKS OUT OF ITS SHELL

TacoTuesday.com - the first and only all-inclusive ultimate Taco Tuesday resource for everyone, everywhere – is thrilled to announce that it is making its long-awaited debut, with a responsive tech-driven website and 70s-esque taco fantasy commercial produced by a stellar team of award-winning creatives.

“We are so excited to finally give the universally beloved taco the online presence, praise and glory it deserves,” said TacoTuesday.com Founder and President Pamela Waitt, who purchased the coveted TacoTuesday.com domain in 2019. “We are so grateful to the taco for attracting such amazing people, with skills and talents that have significantly contributed to creating not just a website and commercial but a lifestyle brand that supports restaurant owners in a time of great uncertainty while encouraging everyone, everywhere to Eat More Tacos and spread some joy.”

The new and mobile-responsive TacoTueday.com website has been given a tech upgrade by developer Raf Szuminski, a wunderkind who developed autonomous rescue robots in middle school and high school as part of a UCI rescue robotics competition to working with tech giants such as Google and Nvidia on augmented reality and AI applications.

The TacoTesday.com commercial, the first of several which is now airing on Bravo, E! and more, was produced and directed by Kimberly Cole, a renowned Billboard charting songwriter, recording artist, executive producer, and multidisciplinary creative alongside Filmmaker and Director of Photography Jacob Mendel in collaboration with Flawless Post. The original music was written by Jeeve, a Franco-American multi-Platinum Grammy Award winning producer, songwriter, composer, arranger and mix-mastering engineer who works with popular recording artists from around the world.

“We are so proud of the evolution of TacoTuesday.com and the team that has worked to bring this taco vision to life,” said Cole. “My heart was immediately drawn to the brand for so many reasons. It’s truly a space that resonates love and inclusivity at a time when we need it most, supporting restaurant owners and all things related to a beloved food that speaks a universal language. It’s where culture meets cause, and where tech meets taco. The commercial and visuals to come is our way of finding that connection which crosses all borders, languages, and beliefs and sends a simple yet powerful message: “Eat More Tacos and be happy.”

Move Over Ketchup Popsicle, The Tacosicle Is Here

Canada broke the internet with their Ketchup Popsicle dubbed the Frenchsicle and that got the team at TacoTuesday.com thinking and googling. According to dozens of marketing firms, two out of every three Americans prefer salsa to ketchup. Factor in that tacos are everyone’s favorite food on planet earth and the team decided a Tacosicle was needed!  Although these beauties are not sold in stores, you’ll find they are easy to make. Granted not many (if any) will want to eat these but taco fans can find the tacos they’ll actually want to eat at TacoTuesday.com.

The Tacosicle featured here is a vibrant combination of taco toppings, including cheese, cilantro, serrano peppers, Tapatio, tomatoes, shredded meat and tortillas.

“Tacos and Taco Tuesday are fun,” said Pamela Waitt, founder of TacoTuesday.com. “We tend to have a spicy personality so the Tacosicle just makes sense to us. Try it for yourself and decide which trend is better, the Frenchsicle or the #Tacosicle!”

TacoTuesday.com is on a mission to find the best of the best while living the best taco lifestyle possible. The taco obsessed can share their Tacosicle moments using the hashtag #tacosicle and the best video on TikTok & IG will win 2 tickets to a summertime Secret Taco Tuesday dinner society party at exclusive locations, with incredible chefs, tacos and tequila.
